The Chopped Up Concubine

This is a pretty gruesome passage and we are supposed to feel disgusted as we read it. Remember Sodom and Gomorrah? Remember the Canaanites? Well this passage reveals that the Isrealites have become just as evil as them... Wait, what just happened?!? Remember that in the past when God was faced with an outcry so great and a sin so grievous, He had to act and bring judgement. But these Israelites are "His people". Will God be forced to destroy His own people because of wickedness? Has the world become broken beyond repair? This is an ominous chapter of the Bible, but we'll see a small flicker of hope emerge as the book ends foreshadowing a coming king.
